(Lighting Helps Gulf continued)
For the Island View Casino, the company provided designs for
the lobby, main gaming area, feature bar, buffet and
steakhouse. The team also created the lighting design at
Emeril Lagasse’s new restaurant, Emeril’s Gulf Coast Fish
house, situated in the casino.
John Levy Lighting Production’s earliest project in the wake
of the storm was for a convention center at the Isle of
Capri. When the design team arrived in Biloxi, the area was
still without power and the National Guard had not yet been
deployed. A second phase of design work, for a bar called
Lava, involved 18 six-foot lava tubes and a custom
five-screen video and media system. Other work on the Isle
of Capri included the design for Chef Luke Palladino’s
Italian-themed Bragozzo.
“All three of our commissions on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast
were fast-track projects,” said Jon Langrell, lighting
designer for John Levy Lighting Productions. “It has been
immensely satisfying to work with such highly motivated
people, to see the fruits of our labor take shape quickly
and to have the opportunity to watch the dramatic, positive
effect on the local people and economy.”
